Asking Yourself the Most Important Question

Are you living with a powerful “Why” in your life?  Having a powerful “why” can actually change our life as we strive to accomplish goals and become our best selves.

Too often in life we focus on the “how” or “what”.  What am I supposed to be doing or how do I do it are common questions we ask ourselves.  Though good and appropriate, these are not the most important questions to be asking.  The most important questions are the why questions such as why am I doing what I am doing?  When we have a strong “why” the “what” and “how” fall in to place.

Understanding “why” rather than simply “what” or “how” transforms seemingly ordinary and mundane tasks of life in to important and significant jobs.  Let me give you a simple example to illustrate this point.

Two men took on the responsibility of doing the laundry for their household.  Though the chore was monotonous and often thankless it was something that had to be done.  Both men had similar backgrounds and similar life circumstances yet one seemed happy each day doing the laundry while the other was clearly miserable.  When asked why they did the laundry in their home their answers were very different.  The man who was miserable most of the time responded “how else can we expect to have clean clothes,” while the man who was happy responded, “I do the laundry so that my family will feel good about themselves each day.”  One of these gentleman had a firm, powerful “why” while the other did not.

Having a powerful “why” guiding our life gives us purpose and the motivation we need to be successful in all that we do.  It provides fortitude and the commitment we need to press forward through the good times and the bad.  Our reality is that life will not always be easy, always be fun, or always be enjoyable.  In fact our reality is that life will sometimes be hard, repetitive, unforgiving, and undoubtedly will take many unexpected twists and turns.  Therefore, without a firm “why” behind all we do, it becomes that much easier to get discouraged, give up, and lose hope.

So what is your “why”?  Why do you do what you do each day?  Having a clear and powerful “why” in our life will help motivate and inspire us to do great things!  Don’t live life without it!!

Learn How to Tell Your Future

Believe it or not, most of us can tell the future if we pay close enough attention.  How is it done?  It is quite simple actually and let me tell you how.

Our attitude and actions today determine who we will become tomorrow.  It is that simple.

Unfortunately, most of us act and behave a certain way yet hope for something different in the future.  Somehow we fail to connect that our actions right now this very moment impact who we become.  It is almost as if we believe we can flip a switch or snap our fingers, and then magically we are the person we always hoped we’d be.   Lamentably, life just doesn’t happen that way.

What we love today will be what we love tomorrow.  How we act today, will be how we act tomorrow.  It is so unlikely for any of us to wake up one day and simply become a completely different person.  Changing who we are is most often a slow and imperceptible process that takes time.  Thus, each small choice matters, every decision we make each day is important.

So, what attitude do you have, what thoughts are constantly in your mind, and what choices are you making?  Simply stop and honestly assess how you are living your life today and as you take a closer look you will know what your future holds.

Let’s create and show others and ourselves what our future holds in store for us by making those decisions, having that attitude, and taking those actions that will lead us to the future we’ve always hoped and dreamed for.
